Dental Visits

Young boy receiving dental treatment

Medicaid covers dental services for all child enrollees as part of a comprehensive set of benefits, referred to as the Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) benefit. Dental services for children must minimally include relief of pain and infections, restoration of teeth, and maintenance of dental health. In 2014, there were nearly 716,000 visits to the dentist for children qualifying for Medicaid ages 0-18, representing approximately two visits per pediatric dental patient. The reports below provide the unique count of South Carolina Medicaid pediatric dental visits by paid fiscal year and plan type by various attributes such as gender and race.
