Objectives:
- Systematically screen all patients for alcohol use with a validated tool and when prescribing medications that interact with alcohol.
- Help motivate patients who drink more than is medically safe to drink less.
- Engage patients you evaluate and identify with AUD in discussions about problematic drinking as well as treatment options (medications, behavioral therapy, support groups) and benefits.
- Offer evidence-informed pharmacotherapy to patients with AUD based on patient goals and characteristics.
